The University of Vermont Cancer Center (UVMCC) held its inaugural Rural Health and Cancer Conference June 19–21 in Burlington. UVMCC Director Randall Holcombe, M.D., and Larner College of Medicine Dean Richard L. Page, M.D., welcomed 71 professionals from across the country and more than a dozen speakers for themed sessions to discuss strategies for improving cancer treatment and care in rural communities.

Marquita Wenonah Lewis, Ph.D., assistant director of community outreach and engagement at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center, presented a keynote titled “Intersections of Equity: Rural Cancer Health as a Model for Collaborative Solutions.”
